About Jorge Oliveira
Jorge Oliveira was born and raised in Portugal where he was exposed at an early age to the art of woodworking and high-end residential building through his father. They came to this country in 1981 and after attending Essex County College, Jorge chose to continue in the family’s long tradition of building and woodworking. In 1986, he joined his father’s firm, Oliveira Cabinets. For the next 6 years he was guided and trained by his father, a master craftsman. After his father’s retirement, while working in local woodworking shops, he attended architectural school for Architectural Interior Drafting and Design and then Kean University for certification as a Computer Aided Design & Graphics Specialist.
Jorge’s reputation in the woodworking and construction industry for directing and supervising large, commercial architectural millwork projects is well known throughout the New York metropolitan area. Highly sought after, Jorge has managed projects for Mount Sinai Hospital, Columbia University Hospital, Harkness Eye Institute, Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Bank of America, Citigroup, Rutgers University, Manasquan Golf Club House and Stony Point Golf Club House.
At the end of 2009, Jorge decided to step out in faith and start Art Woodwork with the vision to become one the major high-end architectural millwork and interior outfits in the New York tri-state area to serve the up-scale residential and corporate client.
