My wife and I were first introduced to Jorge and Fatima Oliveira in1996 by mutual friends.  At that time, we all attended the same Church in Montvale, NJ.  Since that time, we have grown to love and respect Jorge as a man of integrity, character and strong faith.

I give Art Woodwork my very highest recommendation.  They built a large set of kitchen and pantry cabinets and a cherry fireplace/media-cabinet for our addition.  It was a project with some very difficult angles to negotiate in the design that we had given them.  Their work was absolutely superb.  I can only describe Castro as an old-world craftsman, the type of woodworker who one no longer finds in this modern age.  His cabinets and finish work were simply beautiful.  Art Woodwork re-created and matched the exact colors and wood shades that we gave them to work from and they were able to duplicate and even improve upon some complex columns and crown moldings from the original part of our home.  When the workmen came they were impeccably clean and open to fix any changes that we asked for. And the custom kitchen cabinet with inset drawers was very reasonably priced. 

 For that same price we would have to settle for semi-custom factory made cabinets with overlaid drawers, no true customization and far poorer quallity.  On top of all of that,  these people proved to be truly honorable.  During the course of the installation process, a very serious difficulty arose that was the fault of neither ourselves or Art Woodwork.  Another craftsman could have easily walked away from the job in midstream and would have had some valid justification for doing so.  These people stayed on and made good on the contract at what amounted to some financial and time loss to them.  They honored their commitment when they had a clear rationale to exit and my respect for them redoubled.  Both my wife and I know good work when we see it and can easily spot those who cut corners.  All I can say is that we were mightily impressed by Castro and his men.  In every area, craftsmanship, price, reliability and basic honesty I give Art Woodwork my very highest recommendation.

 I just wanted to take a moment or so to express our thanks for the fine work you did for us.

 

Restoring a Victorian house has long been a dream for us.  I had not, however, anticipated the dizzying amount of choices we would have to make along the way.

 

You were able to:

Ø  gain inspiration from the house,

Ø  review the assorted pictures from magazines I had collected,

Ø  match a photo of an antique cabinet we were trying to tie in, and

Ø  discuss with us our needs and vision.

 

With this background, you came up with a design and cabinet style that would work for us.

 

Rehabilitating this old house was not at all easy…what a lot of surprises….and not very pleasant ones.  The only confidence I had through the 5 months of remodeling was that the kitchen was going to work out.  That confidence I attribute to the strong recommendations that led to you and the partnership that we had throughout the entire process.

 

I respect greatly the quality of workmanship (the cabinets will last generations), the aesthetics, and the professionalism with which the work was done..even repairing window and door wood trim that was damaged during the demolition.  You did much more than expected.

 

Given the holidays, we have not yet finished with the detail work in the kitchen.   I do attach one photo that shows the outcome a bit.
